Men Yoroi – Menpou

Welcome to the design process of Men-yoroi, a redwood samurai mask inspired by the elements of smoke and fire. This mask was designed using the industry-standard software ZBrush and then 3D printed using an Elegoo Mars 3D printer.
The design process for Men-yoroi began with researching traditional samurai masks and their symbolism. The mask is intended to represent the fierce and powerful spirit of the samurai, and so it was important to include elements that conveyed that sense of strength and ferocity.
The inspiration for the design of Men-yoroi came from the elements of smoke and fire. The mask's design is intended to evoke the image of a warrior emerging from a smoke-filled battlefield, his face obscured by the smoke and ash. The mask's shape and form were sculpted in ZBrush to give it a sense of movement and flow, as if it were made of smoke.
Once the overall form and shape of the mask were established, the next step was to add details and textures. The mask was textured to look like dark redwood, a type of wood known for its strength and durability. To achieve the look of wood grain, I used ZBrush's sculpting tools to add intricate details to the surface of the mask, such as knots, burls, and other natural imperfections that are found in wood.
The final step in the design process was 3D printing the mask using an Elegoo Mars 3D printer. The Elegoo Mars is a high-resolution printer that allows for fine details and accurate reproductions. The printer was able to capture the intricate details and textures of the mask, resulting in a final product that looks and feels like a real wooden mask.
